Senior Center Adult Transportation (SCAT)

SCAT is a pre-arranged shared-ride cab transportation service that Arlington residents can use to travel to and from their homes to Arlington Senior Centers. Anyone 55 and older may use the service. Each one-way trip costs $2.50 (roundtrip is $5.00). An additional discount can be obtained by purchasing a coupon book from Red Top 703-522-3333 and Yellow Cab Company 703-522-2222 worth $20 for $18. You must call to reserve your ride at least one day in advance, or you can reserve up to one week in advance.

How do I apply to the SCAT Program?

Call 703-228-4744 to apply. TDD for deaf and hard of hearing persons: 711.

How do I make a SCAT trip request?

  • Call SCAT at 703-228-1900 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. TDD for deaf and hard of hearing persons: 711.
  • You must call at least one day in advance no later than 4:30 p.m. the day before you want to use SCAT, or you may reserve your trip up to seven days in advance.
  • A standing order may be set up—these are reoccurring trips to same destination. For example, if you plan to attend the Senior Center in your area every Tuesday, you may reserve your trip for every Tuesday without having to call each week. Taxi cabs start picking up 30 minutes before center arrival time, so please be ready!
  • If you need to cancel a trip, call SCAT at least 30 minutes before your pick up time. Trips are scheduled each evening for the next day.

What if I use a wheelchair or need assistance?

No problem. When you call SCAT to book your trip, request a wheelchair accessible vehicle. There are a limited number of these vehicles, which can be reserved in advance.

Please note:
