Safety Tips 

  • While at bus stops, wait in designated areas and be aware of blind spots. Never assume the driver sees you. 

  • Always use crosswalks and traffic lights when crossing after exiting the bus. 

  • For bikes: signal the driver, exit from the front, and let the driver know when retrieving your bike. 

  • Stay visible in low-light conditions with lights, bright clothing, and reflective gear. 

  • Do not talk to the driver while the bus is in motion. Stand behind the safety line and avoid leaning on or standing in the doorway. 

  • Remain seated until the bus has entirely stopped. Use handrails when available. 

  • Riders with strollers, please apply brakes, secure stroller and do not block the aisles. Be sure to fold strollers when instructed by Bus Operator. Read more on the Stroller Policy

  • Wheelchairs and mobility devices must be securely fastened.  

  • Except for service animals, animals are not permitted onboard. 

  • Hazardous materials (car batteries, flammable liquids) are prohibited. 

Courtesy Tips 

  • Have your fare ready (exact change, or SmarTrip/iRide card). 

  • Please offer priority seats to the elderly, persons with disabilities or pregnant. 

  • No eating, drinking, or smoking. Please take all personal belongings with you. 

  • Use headphones when listening to music or videos and avoid rowdy behavior. 

  • Keep aisles clear of large items like strollers or suitcases, bags and or boxes. 

Security Tips 

  • Report suspicious activity to the bus operator or Arlington County Police. 

  • Non-emergency: 703-558-2222 | Emergency: 911 

  • Do not confront threats! Call 911 if you notice something or someone suspicious at or near a bus stop or Metro station.
