Columbia Pike Construction to Impact ART 41, 45 & 75 Bus Routes Starting August 3
July 15, 2020
Starting Monday, August 3, construction at the intersection of S. Dinwiddie St and Columbia Pike will require temporary changes to ART Routes 41, 45 and 75 and bus stops in that area. Construction is expected to last 3 – 5 days.
During this period, buses will not be able to make left turns at the intersection of S. Dinwiddie St and Columbia Pike. As a result, ART 41 and 45 will layover on northbound S. Dinwiddie St next to the Arlington Mill Community Center and then run counter-clockwise through the Arlington Mill neighborhood. ART 75 will not operate service in the Arlington Mill neighborhood. Changes to the various ART routes are described below.
ART 41
ART 41 will operate counter-clockwise through the Arlington Mill neighborhood, in the opposite direction that it currently operates. As a result, it will only serve bus stops across the street from where stops are currently located. Existing stops will be closed during this time. Temporary stops will be installed along S. Greenbrier St to accommodate two ART 41 stops along that street. See map for more detail.
ART 41 will layover on northbound S. Dinwiddie St next to the Arlington Mill Community Center before running the route counter-clockwise along S. Dinwiddie St and 7th Rd S. Buses will leave 10 minutes later than the time shown on the schedule for the S. Dinwiddie St and Columbia Pike bus stop.
ART 45
ART 45 will operate counter-clockwise through the Arlington Mill neighborhood, in the opposite direction that it currently operates. The route will only serve bus stops across the street from where stops are currently located along S. Dinwiddie St and a portion of 8th Rd S. Existing stops will be closed during this time. The route will then turn on to S Greenbrier St and then left onto Columbia Pike to continue toward Rosslyn. See map for more detail.
The following bus stops along the second half of 8th Rd S, S Carlin Springs Rd and a portion of Columbia Pike will not be served:
- 8th Rd S, EB @ S Greenbriers St
- 8th Rd S, EB @ S Harrison St
- 8th Rd S, EB @ S Carlin Springs Rd
- S Carlin Springs Rd, NB @ Columbia Pike
- Columbia Pike, WB @ S Jefferson St
Riders along this section of the route can board ART 45 on Greenbrier St between 8th Rd S and Columbia Pike or board the ART 75 bus along Carlin Springs Rd going toward Columbia Pike and transfer to ART 45 at the Columbia Pike @ S Greenbrier St bus stop (#41227).
ART 45 will layover on northbound S. Dinwiddie Street next to the Arlington Mill Community Center before running the route counter-clockwise along S. Dinwiddie St. Buses will leave 10 minutes later than the time shown on the schedule for the S. Dinwiddie St and Columbia Pike bus stop.
ART 75
During construction, ART 75 will not operate along S Dinwiddie St and 7th Rd S. All bus stops along those streets will not be serviced by ART 75. Instead, the route will operate along Columbia Pike and Carlin Springs Rd and serve the ART bus stops along those streets.
Some ART 75 bus stops along S. Dinwiddie St and 7th Rd S will be served by ART 41 and 45 but not by ART 75.
