Public Feedback on Proposed New ART Route and Service Changes

The window for the public to provide feedback on the proposed service changes has ended. Please view the Power Point presentation and boards from the public meetings below as well as a description of the proposed service changes. Arlington Transit will provide information soon about what service changes will go into effect in December.

 

Arlington Transit (ART) is proposing several bus service changes that would go into effect starting Dec. 16, 2018. ART is requesting feedback on the proposed service changes and will take comments into consideration before finalizing the changes.

Proposed changes include implementing a new weekday ART route that would operate between Marymount University, Ballston and Shirlington via North Glebe Road and N/S George Mason Drive. There are also proposed minor service changes to the ART 45, 52, 55, 74, 77, 84 and 87 schedules (see table below).

Public feedback on the proposed ART service changes can be provided two ways:

1) Via this online feedback form: The online feedback form was closed on October 19.

2) At two public meetings that will be held in October.

 

An open house will be held prior to each public meeting. The public meetings will feature a short presentation that will give an overview of the proposed service changes. Public meetings will be held at the following locations:

New weekday service operating between Williamsburg/North Glebe Road to Ballston and Shirlington via N/S George Mason Drive. This new route, with Metrobus 22A/C, will bring more frequent service between Ballston and Shirlington along N/S George Mason Drive.

Weekday service: 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
Peak frequency: every 20 minutes
Off-peak frequency: every 30 minutes.

Additional service on Sundays until 11:05 pm; Increase weekday peak service frequency from 25 minutes to 20 minutes, to reflect traffic conditions and improve on-time performance.
